First AI-Enabled TOUGHBOOK® PC

The TOUGHBOOK® 40 is powered by advanced processors featuring up to 16 CPU cores, 8 GPU cores, and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for artificial intelligence workloads. The system intelligently distributes AI tasks across the CPU, GPU, and NPU based on workload complexity, delivering up to 97 overall peak TOPS. Performance can be further enhanced with the industry’s first optional 8GB discrete GPU (dGPU), capable of up to 34.5 overall peak TOPS for demanding AI and graphics applications.

Class-Leading 8 Modular Areas

The TOUGHBOOK® 40 is designed with eight user-replaceable modular areas, including the battery, memory, storage, keyboard, and four expansion bays. Available xPAK expansion modules include barcode readers, optical drives, authentication readers, additional I/O, secondary batteries, and extra storage options. With more than 10,000 possible configurations, organizations can customize devices to meet mission-specific requirements while simplifying deployment, reducing downtime, and futureproofing their investment.

Advanced 5G Connectivity – Speeds up to 3.5 Gbps

The integrated 5G modem supports both 4G LTE/LTE-A and 5G Sub6/C-band connectivity with download speeds up to 3.5 Gbps. The device automatically connects to the strongest available network without user intervention. Additional support for FirstNet® Band 14, Private Cellular CBRS Band 48, and dual SIM capability (physical SIM + eSIM) provides maximum flexibility for critical communications.

5MP Infrared Webcam

Built for today’s hybrid workforce, the TOUGHBOOK® 40 features the first 5MP webcam in its class with integrated infrared capability for Windows Hello facial recognition. A built-in privacy cover enhances security for remote collaboration and telehealth applications.

Tetra-Array Microphones with AI Noise Reduction

Equipped with four microphones and AI-driven noise reduction technology, the TOUGHBOOK® 40 delivers class-leading voice recognition and up to three times greater speech accuracy in noisy environments.

First Rugged PC with Optional 8GB dGPU

The TOUGHBOOK® 40 is the industry’s first rugged laptop to offer an optional 8GB discrete GPU engineered for advanced graphics processing and AI acceleration. Featuring 56 AI accelerators, up to 34.5 overall peak TOPS, and 17 TFLOPS of peak FP32 performance, it also incorporates the Radiance Display™ Engine for exceptional image clarity and visual performance.

Next-Level Security

The TOUGHBOOK® 40 is the only rugged laptop that comes standard with OPAL-encrypted SSDs and optional FIPS-encrypted SSDs. Every unit includes software encryption, with additional protection available through TOUGHBOOK® Total Defense for end-to-end security and TOUGHBOOK® Guard for supply chain tamper detection before delivery. The TOUGHBOOK® 40 is engineered to protect sensitive data from the inside out.
